The Gamma Iota Sigma Black & Gold Banquet welcomed students, alumni, Lindner faculty and staff, company partners, and others affiliated with the center to hear about the organization’s initiatives, activities and future goals. The event also celebrated Robert Higgins, the center’s director of professional and industry engagement, who retired in August.

The 2024 Data Science Symposium featured two dynamic keynotes. AlignAI CEO Rehgan Bleile explored “From Models to Agents,” highlighting the shift from traditional machine learning systems to advanced AI. Jeffrey Shaffer, Kirk and Jacki Perry Professor of Analytics and Applied AI Lab Director, closed with “The Future of AI,” examining AI’s rapid advancements and unpredictable trajectory in modern technology.

The Digital Pre-Accelerator Program has been retooled into a free, five-module online program that teaches participants how to validate ideas, define customers and build sustainable business models. Open to students, staff, faculty and community members, the program provides essential tools, resources and mentorship to turn ideas into ventures.

The center held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Grau Center Professional Sales Lab in March. Attendees included Varsity Sales Team and Sales Leadership Club students, as well as valued stakeholders, who heard from Jim Grau, BBA ’73, Dean Marianne Lewis and UC President Neville Pinto. Grau’s donation will upgrade the lab with new technology and furnishings.

The 25th annual Goering Center Family & Private Business Awards inducted the Heiman family of Standard Textile into the Family Business Hall of Fame. The Heiman family was admitted for their application of the center’s “10 Best Practices” for family and private businesses.

Leaders from Bahl and Gaynor, Bank of America, Johnson Investment Counsel, Luma Financial Technologies and Morgan Stanley participated in a “Candid Conversations” event on how to approach and learn from various scenarios while building a career in finance.

The institute awarded 25 professional development scholarships for economics students to engage in experiential learning opportunities outside of the classroom. One such instance was fourth-year Lindner Honors-PLUS student and Kautz-Uible Amanda Wait Fellow Keya Nandi, who attended the National Association for Business Economics’ 41st annual Economic Policy Conference in Washington, D.C..

The center’s 41st year of Roundtable programming maintained its tradition of connecting students and faculty with the region’s real estate community through timely real estate topics. Highlighted by the annual UC/ PNC Economic Outlook, 2024-25 Roundtables welcomed experts and guest speakers on AI trends in real estate, institutional investment, office demand and urban economies, and more.

Attendees heard from an alumni panel that answered questions centered around relationships, reflection and resilience, the core principles of the former UC president’s leadership teachings..
