The Lindner Career Services team provides comprehensive support for student career development, including coaching, interview prep, resume critiques and the connection to a wealth of resources for continued exploration and growth.

As part of your team of support at Lindner, your career coach is here to help you:
  • Acquire teamwork skills and the ability to present yourself with confidence.
  • Strengthen your resume through local, national and international opportunities.
  • Develop interview etiquette and writing skills through focused coursework, beginning with the First-Year Experience.
  • Plan your career.

 Career Services Syllabus

The Career Services syllabus was created to assist you with your transition to college and the escalating responsibilities of your career. 

Get in the habit of checking your student email account daily for valuable information from Lindner and UC.

What do Career Advisors expect from students?

  • Take ownership of your career journey by engaging and often with your Career Advisor.

  • Schedule and attend career coaching appointments through My Bearcat Network.

  • Actively update and maintain your Handshake profile with your resume, skills, and experiences.

  • Participate in workshops, networking events, and information sessions.

  • Research and explore career pathways, internships, and co-ops.

  • Follow through action steps from coaching meetings.

  • Be professional in communication with employers, staff, and peers.

Year 1

Student Responsibilities 

  • Attend orientation and LCS introductory events.

  • Activate Handshake profile and upload a draft resume.

  • Meet with your career advisor at least once to discuss goals and interests.

  • Attend at least one career workshop or info session.

  • Join at least one student organization to begin building your network.

 

Advisor Responsibilities 

  • Introduce students to career services, My Bearcat Network, and Handshake.

  • Guide students in creating their first resume and Linkedln profile.

  • Provide major and career exploration tools.

  • Recommend entry-level student organizations and activities.

Year 2

Student Responsibilities 

  • Refine resume and Linkedln with updated coursework, skills, and involvement.

  • Meet with your career advisor at least once per semester.

  • Attend at least one career fair or employer info session.

  • Explore co-op eligibility and timelines.

 
Advisor Responsibilities 

  • Review and provide detailed feedback on resumes and cover letters.

  • Offer mock interviews and skill-building workshops.

  • Provide guidance on choosing co-ops.

  • Connect students with alumni panels and employer networking events.

Year 3

Student Responsibilities 

  • Apply for co-ops or experiential learning opportunities.

  • Practice interviewing skills with advisor or through mock interview events.

  • Attend multiple career fairs and actively network with employers.

  • Take on leadership positions in clubs or organizations.

  • Stay engaged with career advisor to track progress toward post-grad goals.

Advisor Responsibilities

  • Support students through the co-op applications process

  • Provide advanced coaching on networking, interviewing, and negotiation/

  • Connect students with targeted employer opportunities.

  • Help students reflect on experiences to align with future career goals.

Year 4+

Student Responsibilities 

  • Finalize resume and Linkedln, emphasizing co-ops and leadership experience.

  • Apply to full-time roles to graduate school programs.

  • Meet with advisor to develop a job search strategy and timeline.

  • Attend workshops on professionalism and networking, 

  • Engage in alumni networking and mentoring opportunities.

Advisor Responsibilities

  • Offer one-on-one coaching for job searching strategies and graduate school applications.

  • Conduct mock interviews and salary negotiation practice.

  • Provide employer connections for final interviews and hiring.

  • Support students in transitioning from college to career or advanced study.

  • My Bearcat Network: Used to schedule coaching appointments, track notes, and set goals.

  • Handshake: Primary platforms for job/co-op postings, career fairs, and event registration.

  • Career Services Website: Resource hub for career readiness tools, deadlines, and student success stories.

Your Responsibilities


Make an Appointment

Lindner Career Services is open for both virtual and in-person individual coaching appointments. For all career- and professional-related needs, students should schedule career coaching sessions through My Bearcat Network.

Schedule to Meet with Your Career Advisor

  1. Go to My Bearcat Network (also known as Inspire)
  2. Select NETID and click LOGIN WITH NETID.
  3. Click Contact My Advisors under Connect on your dashboard
  4. In the My Assigned Advisors tab find the advisor with whom you wish to schedule an appointment and click Schedule Appointment
    1. If you do not have an advisor listed under “My Assigned Advisors,” please email MyBearcatNetworkHelp@uc.edu.
  5. Find an available time that works for you and click Schedule.
  6. Select your preferred time again from the list, using the checkbox on the left.
  7. Choose Appointment Modality, as some advisors may offer multiple modalities, for example, phone, virtual, in-person. Select Session Topics from the dropdown menu to include areas you would like to discuss. In the Session Note field, enter more specific information about what you want to talk about during your appointment. If applicable, you can attach a file, using the Attach button.
  8. Click Schedule Appointment to finish scheduling your appointment.

Hours of Operation

Fall and Spring Semester Hours

During the academic year, Lindner Career Services is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Drop-in Hours

Drop-in peer career coaching is available Monday through Friday from 1-4 p.m. in Lindner Hall Suite 1420 during the fall and spring semesters. 

Please contact your assigned Career Advisor for their specific drop-in hours.
