Student Organizations Stretch Learning Beyond the Classroom

Lindner’s approach to learning is a three-dimensional experience that takes students from the classroom to the office and beyond. A robust ecosystem of student organizations aids in the continued development of our students by providing opportunities for leadership, professional development and networking.

Meet some of Lindner's premier student organizations and find out how students are preparing for their next chapter by getting involved on campus.

DECA

UC DECA, Lindner’s 2025 Student Organization of the Year, empowers students to excel in the business world by offering unique opportunities for personal and professional growth. Through competitions that challenge critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making, students develop leadership skills, build professional networks and gain valuable real-world experience. UC DECA members have the chance to compete at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC), DECA’s national championship, with the 2025 event taking place in San Francisco. This year, 14 DECA members represented UC at ICDC, where multiple students placed at the top of their categories.

In addition to national competitions, UC DECA hosts case study events at the university level, where students work in teams to analyze business scenarios and devise innovative solutions. Overall, the organization aims to set up members for success after graduation by preparing them with hands-on experience and industry insights.

Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) is committed to promoting and sustaining student engagement in the areas of insurance and risk management, and actuarial science. UC’s GIS chapter prepares students for insurance industry careers by providing educational opportunities, industry engagement and acting as a pipeline for obtaining co-ops.

Throughout the semester, GIS invites insurance companies and organizations to attend weekly chapter meetings to discuss insurance-related topics, career paths and co-op opportunities. GIS also co-hosts the Insurance & Risk Management Career Fair. Outside of educational and professional development events, GIS hosts social and service events each semester. Students also have opportunities to travel to conferences around the country to network with peers from other universities and learn from companies not located in Cincinnati.

Project Management Club

Lindner’s Project Management Club offers students a plethora of interactive opportunities to connect with one another, learn new concepts in project management and network with industry professionals. The organization’s goal is to offer activities that simulate the tasks or roles students may fill in an internship or full-time job opportunity by supplying lectures, overviews of project management skills and tools, interactive team exercises, company visits and more. One long-term goal of the Project Management Club is to offer students certified trainings in project management through the Project Management Institute.

QCC provides pro bono, high-impact consulting services for Greater Cincinnati-area businesses. The organization holds a variety of professional development events from information sessions to office visits, where it partners with consulting firms around the U.S. Students have held events with Alvarez & Marsal, Accenture, P&G, Clark Schaefer Hackett, Kinetic Vision, AMEND, 84.51 and Bain & Company.

In 2025, QCC launched Consulting Recruitment Bootcamp, a multi-week bootcamp consisting of four three-hour sessions on consulting recruitment, how to structure cases, how to master the analytical portions of casing, and how to land your dream role. QCC aims to put UC on the map for top firms like McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group and Bain & Company, and hopes to continually increase placement rates at those firms.

Net Impact UC

Net Impact UC is the University of Cincinnati’s chapter of the global Net Impact network, uniting students from all disciplines to build green skills, expand their networks and apply sustainability principles to real-world challenges.

Net Impact hosts weekly meetings designed to encourage community, knowledge building and professional development. These sessions include a mix of hands-on workshops, speaker panels featuring sustainability professionals and alumni, and social events that foster connection among members.

The organization also runs student-led consulting projects that help local and global organizations advance their sustainability goals. Major semester events include the Green Jobs Initiative, connecting students with sustainability career paths; the Small Business Market, a showcase of local and student-run ventures; and Sustainability@UC, which spotlights sustainability work happening at UC. These experiences offer students the opportunity to apply what they learn, expand their impact and grow as changemakers.

Sales Leadership Club

Sales Leadership Club

The Sales Leadership Club aims to prepare the next generation of sales and marketing professionals through hands-on experiences and skills building. The organization bridges the gap between classroom learning and the real-world sales environment by furnishing students with opportunities to network with industry professionals, build their personal brand, and gain insight into different sales career paths through workshops, speaker events and employer visits.

Students also participate in campus-wide career expos. The organization partners with local companies through the Grau Center for Professional Selling to bring real-world insights directly to members. The Fall 2024 Elevator Sales Pitch Competition united students from a range of majors to deliver quick, compelling personal pitches. The event not only boosted students’ confidence but also helped attendees secure interviews and internship opportunities.
