The University of Cincinnati was awarded the prestigious Carnegie Elective Classification for Leadership for Public Purpose in 2024 in part due to its commitment to the creation of the Warren Bennis Leadership Institute.

The Carnegie Elective Classification for Leadership for Public Purpose recognizes universities who display "coordinated institutional practices that enhance the development of ethical leadership capacity among all stakeholders in service of the collective public good."
