Admission of First-Year Students

All students are admitted to the college as “pre-majors” for the first two years, transitioning to their desired majors upon successful completion of the freshman and sophomore core courses. First-year students are those who have not enrolled for college or university courses (other than Post Secondary Educational Options Programs) since graduating from high school. The following minimum requirements must be met for admission consideration into degree programs in the College of Business:

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Program

1. Graduation from an accredited high school. Class rank requirements will vary depending on the student's ACT or SAT scores. Class rank, grade point averages and test scores must meet the UC baccalaureate standards. In addition, the College of Business requires specific minimums on the mathematics portions of the ACT and SAT examinations.

2. Completion of the following subjects:
English ..................................................... 4 units
College-preparatory mathematics * ............ 4 units
Science .................................................... 2 units
Social science ........................................... 2 units
Foreign language (same).............................2 units
Fine arts ....................................................1 unit
Additional unit of above ** ......................... 1 units

* Four units of college-preparatory mathematics are required (including algebra I & II, geometry and one additional unit such as calculus, pre-calculus, functions or finite mathematics).

** The additional unit may be taken from any of the areas listed in item 2 above.

3. Acceptable scores on either the ACT or SAT, which will vary depending on the competition for available places in the college's entering class.

4. The College of Business accepts freshman applicants to begin in the autumn, winter or spring quarter.
