Narayan S. Umanath, PhDNarayan S. Umanath is a Professor of Information Systems at the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH.

Entering academia after fifteen years of technical and managerial experience in software development, Umanath received his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Houston in 1987. His undergraduate and graduate educations are in mechanical engineering and industrial engineering respectively. Starting his academic career as an assistant professor of information systems (IS) at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA in 1987, he was in the IS faculty of the University of Tulsa as an associate professor for three years before joining the University of Cincinnati in 1996.

His current research interests include knowledge transfer/information sharing/electronic integration in supply chain relationships, and data modeling & data warehousing. His research publications have appeared in Management Science, Journal of MIS, Communications of the ACM, Decision Sciences, Information & Management, Information Resources Management Journal, and Journal Managerial Issues.
