Total Quality Management CenterThe Center for Performance Excellence (formerly the Total Quality Management Center) is dedicated to teaching best-practice management principles for quality and performance excellence; engaging in state-of-the-art research activities; providing professional service to the national, state, and local communities; and serving as a source of expertise for training, assessment, and consulting. The Center is a Sustaining Member of the American Society for Quality.

Recent News

James R. Evans was selected to chair the Panel of Judges for the Alaska Performance Excellence (APEX) award for its first year in 2009.  APEX, like many state programs, is patterned after the national Baldrige Award program.

Jim Evans, Suzanne Masterson, and Matt Ford (Northern Kentucky University) are engaging in an innovative research project with the Monfort Institute at the University of Northern Colorado to study Baldrige recipients' feedback reports.  Preliminary findings are expected during the summer.

In June of 2008, James R. Evans was invited to address local industry and government leaders in the city of Ningbo, China and assist with training examiners and judges for the Ningbo Mayor's Quality Award, patterned after the Baldrige.

James R. Evans was appointed as Editor of the Quality Management Journal by the American Society for Quality in 2008 for a three-year term.
