How do I set-up my Bearcat Online e-mail account? - Student accounts are provided by the University through Bearcat Online. You may sign-up by visiting Bearcat Online via the web. Once there, select Account Application and follow the directions. After you have created your account you can check your e-mail on-line at http://email.uc.edu.

Top of Page Where can I get help with a problem or question? - You should seek help from the lab consultants located in 211C and in the SAP Enterprise Lab (basement). If a consultant cannot be found, please be patient as they are likely delivering and/or setting up classroom equipment.
Top of Page What can I expect from the lab consultants? - The lab consultants primary responsibility is to guide students on how to use the labs. They can assist you with technical problems like printer errors, software glitches, and hardware problems. Consultants also help with other minor problems that occur in the labs (e.g., finding applications, virus protection and disk failure). They are here to help you use the computer labs and its applications. They are not here for one-on-one tutorials or as teaching assistants to help with your homework problems. Consultants are explicitly instructed to refrain from assisting students with writing program code or solving homework problems.
Top of Page How can I reserve audio-visual equipment for classroom use? - See the computer lab consultants in 211C or downstairs in the SAP Enterprise Lab for reservations. Equipment must be reserved a minimum of 24 hours in advance of use.
Top of Page What are the CoB computer lab hours?- The computer lab hours are 7 am to 11 pm Monday thru Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm on Fridays, 8 am to 5 pm on Saturdays, and Noon to 11 pm on Sundays. Periodically, the labs close early for holidays and have special hours during exam weeks. Check for signs on the lab doors for any changes. The labs are also closed for the duration of quarter breaks.
Top of Page Where are the labs located? - PC equipped labs are located in Lindner Hall 209, 211 and 215. The SAP Enterprise lab in the basement of Lindner Hall has 11 project rooms, 9 of which are PC equipped for group work. The MBA student lounge is equipped with 4 PCs as is the MS student lounge in 208 Lindner Hall.
Top of Page Is there a place where student teams can work on projects together? - The lab in 215 Lindner Hall is set up for group work when not in use for classes. The SAP Enterprise lab in the basement of Lindner Hall has 11 project rooms, 9 of which are PC equipped for group work. This lab also contains a theater room and a large conference room for student use.
Top of Page Who can use the CoB computer labs? - The College of Business computer labs are primarily for the use of business students and faculty, however, any University student may use the labs. If you are matriculated in the Business College or a university student enrolled in a business class for the current quarter, you will automatically have a network account created for you. Consultants may ask for identification at anytime to ensure you are a current UC student.
Top of Page What are the basic rules of behavior for working in the labs? - We ask that you behave in a professional manner. Eating, drinking, smoking, food products and tobacco products are explicitly prohibited in the computer labs. We ask that you be considerate of others by keeping the noise level down and keeping your materials within your workspace. Do not use the lab printers as copying machines to make multiple copies of your documents. Be selective in what you print. Please be cooperative and comply with these policies. Failure to do so may result in suspension of your network privileges.
Top of Page Why can't I have food or drink in the labs? - Food and drinks can seriously damage lab equipment and are therefore strictly prohibited. Please be cooperative and comply with this policy. Failure to do so can result in suspension of your network privileges.
Top of Page Why are some of the labs closed during normal lab hours? - Labs are frequently closed for class use. Signs are posted on the outside of lab doors indicating the schedule of lab classes for that quarter. Lindner 209 is the lab most frequently used as a computer classroom.
Top of Page Why are the labs closed between quarters? - The College of Business Computer labs are closed at the end of each quarter and for the duration of the break for maintenance. It is at this time that hardware and software upgrades are completed and routine maintenance and cleaning is performed. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you need to use a computer during break, the computers in the library are always available.

Top of Page How do I connect to the CoB computer labs from off-campus or through my laptop? - CoB's Terminal Services simulates the CoB lab environment from any remote location. Please see the how-to section for instructions on how to use this service.
Top of Page What is my CoB 'Net Drive?' - Your 'Net Drive' is your own personal storage drive when you log onto the CoB Network. It is depicted by the drive letter 'I.' As a student, you are allocated a total of 100 MB of network storage space. Please note that at the end of each quarter, all net drives are deleted. If you have anything saved on your net drive, please be sure to back it up elsewhere.
Top of Page What is UCFileSpace? - UCFileSpace is UC's online file storage service. Using this service, you can access your files from anywhere on the UC campus network. If you connect to the campus network from off campus using UC's VPN service, you can access your UCFileSpace from anywhere in the world. You can easily publish personal web pages through your UCFileSpace.
Top of Page Why should I frequently save my documents? - Unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect technological world. Computers and networking are sometimes unpredictable. The software you are using may fail or we may experience a brief power outage. Frequent back-ups will help keep the loss of your data to a minimum.
Top of Page How do I set up my laptop for wireless? - You must first register your wireless card with UCit. Once registered, follow the instructions provided. If you have any trouble, please see one of the lab consultants in 211C or the SAP Enterprise Lab (basement).
Top of Page Where do I go if I left something in the labs? - If the item is not where you left it, check with the lab consultants in room 211C. Found items of little value may be kept for a brief period of time. Any item of value is immediately taken to the Dean's Office in Lindner Hall room 102.
