The Real Estate Roundtable

The Department of Finance in UC's College of Business established a four-year real estate program on January 1, 1981, under the guidance of the program's current director, Dr. Norman G. Miller. The UC Real Estate Roundtable, since 1983, was created to establish and maintain linkages between the university and the business and real estate communities.

The monthly Roundtable Series features guest speakers who provide their perspectives on issues of broad interest to business and the real estate industry. Past speakers include Roger Staubach, Sam Zell, Anthony Downs, Mike Miles and Bob Huggins. The UC Real Estate Roundtable strives to:

  • Encourage interaction between real estate professionals and UC students and faculty.
  • Inform Roundtable members about opportunities for participating in UC's co-op, mentor, and internship programs; serving as in-class guest speakers; and interacting with Alpha Rho Epsilon, UC's professional real estate association.
  • Address issues of broad interest to the real estate industry such as trends in  tax laws or other legislation, financing, planning issues, and economics.
  • Expose real estate professionals to industry research conducted at UC and elsewhere.

The Roundtable membership is made up of over 200 professionals from virtually every sector of the real estate industry. The yearly membership fee covers the entire series, including the UC/Deloitte Real Estate Industry Breakfast Seminar in October and the UC/PNC Greater Cincinnati Outlook Conference in February. Your membership fee also provides subsidies for interested UC students to attend programs.

In June, the Roundtable culminates the academic year with the annual Real Estate Program Banquet (cost not included in Roundtable membership). Several hundred representatives from the real estate industry and the business community attend this event, making for a great evening of networking, while showing support for the University of Cincinnati Real Estate Program. Funds raised from this event go to support the UC Real Estate program, faculty, staff, and student resources, this web site, and future projects.
