Completing the Masters of Science in Information Systems degree at the University of Cincinnati's College of Business has been one of the most challenging, engaging, and rewarding experiences of my life. In few other environments have I been exposed to so many new ideas, people, and cultures - which all expanded my worldview and personal knowledge base immensely. The MS-IS faculty are as diverse as the student body, and they bring an elite level of knowledge and world experience to the classes they teach, yet are able to do so in a personable manner that inspires students to excel.
In the time I have been in the MS-IS program I have risen through the ranks to the highest level achievable for an IT Specialist in my branch at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and I am now poised to climb even higher. I would definitely recommend the MS-IS program to anyone who seeks an in-depth understanding of the complex interaction between the world of business and the world of information systems, upon which such a vast portion of our global economy has been, and continues, to be built.

The MSIS degree program at UC has provided me with a solid and comprehensive understanding of information systems and their application in the business world. The curriculum is very thorough and tightly aligned with the demands of the marketplace. The assignments translate directly into value that I am able to provide on the job.
The core classes provided me with the essential fundamental knowledge and skills in areas such as database and networking while electives such as IT Project Management and CIO Forum taught me how to think at the executive level regarding the management of information systems. An on-the-job learning component gave me the opportunity to apply classroom concepts and skills in the real world.
In my career, the lessons I've learned in the MSIS program have significantly improved my ability to make strategic IT decisions, solve problems, build and manage complex systems and work effectively with other IT and business professionals.

The MS-IS program at the University of Cincinnati provides the curriculum combining top notch technology and business context. In addition to the required courses, there are a variety of electives in several different concentrations offered in the program. The up-to-date course setting presents the most advanced technology while the well-organized six-month co-op helps students to gain the valuable hand-on experience. Faculties in the IS program are knowledgeable in both academic and industry.
As an international student with background in Computer Science, the MS-IS program helps me to advance my IT ability by developing business-oriented competence. Besides, in accordance with today's IT trend of the calling for IT versatility, the program provides me a broader career choice. Transferring from a software engineer to my current co-op position in SAP as a Business Application Intern, I am obtaining benefits from the program for it helps me to gain better insight into the corporate strategy and to align my IT capability with the corporate goals. Thus makes me more motivated and full of accomplishment.

After three quarter in University of Cincinnati's MS-IS program, I am very impressed with its quality and breadth.
I hold a B.S. in Physics. Coming from a completely different background, the well organized curriculum and considered use of technology equipped me with a vast and comprehensive array of notions covering the whole spectrum of issues in Information Technology.
The breadth of the program is just what I was seeking for my career. I recommend this program for anyone wishing to pursue a degree in MS-IS.

I am a University of Cincinnati MBA program alumni (2002), and I am nearing completion of an MS-IS degree. When I started the MS-IS program, I had been in the Information Technology field for over fifteen years, serving in IT leadership roles for about the last eight years. While the MBA program greatly enhanced my management and business skills, the MS-IS program redeveloped my deep technical skills that had grown much out of date. The program increased my detailed knowledge of the current trends and technologies in IT to such a great extent that I believe it was a significant factor in further advancing my career. With my advanced leadership skills, combined with my renewed technical abilities, I was able to attract the interest of several world-class companies, including Rolls-Royce Plc and PepsiCo Inc.
I recently accepted an offer as an Enterprise Architect with Rolls-Royce. This is a very senior level technical position, and requires significant knowledge of computer applications, infrastructure, and data models. Some of these were areas in which I had never achieved strength, having started my career as a computer programmer on Mainframe and UNIX systems. My initial hope was to gain some familiarity with the newer technologies, but I had increased my understanding to such a degree that my knowledge was unparalleled among my peers, and my skills allowed me to stand out amongst so many others.

The Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) Program at the University of Cincinnati (UC) provides a strong grounding in technology from a systems and business standpoint. This unique blend of technology and business is a perfect fit with my professional goal to ultimately assume a leading role in a large Information Technology (IT)-based organization, and will provide me with the skills to manage IT projects and people. I was attracted to UC's MSIS Program because of the small class sizes, which allow for one-on-one interaction with the professors. In addition, the best advantage of the program is the IS experience as part of the curriculum, which will provide many real-world experiences to help students discover their future career opportunities.

After I completed my computer engineering, I obtained a job in the ERP field as a technical resource. I worked for 2 years in the ERP field and realized the importance of business knowledge along with technical skills. In the ERP field, there were 3 players: the functional persons, technical persons and the techno-functionals. Techno-functionals bring the technical and functional persons together and resolve communication gaps. I was keen on obtaining a position that would help me integrate business and technology that would help me leverage maximum value from both.
A MBA alone would result in developing only business skills. A MS in Computer Science would help develop only technical skills. MS in IS seemed to be a better option because it was well suited to my needs. This program includes not only several business courses such as finance, accounting, operations management, but also technical courses like Java, ASP.NET, Data Warehousing, Communication etc. The most unique aspect of this program is that the technical courses are taught with a business perspective and the real world applications in mind.
In a nutshell, I would say that this program not only provides knowledge, but also shapes your personality and builds you as a professional.
