Apply Now to the MS-IS Program

Eligibility

Application for the MS-IS program is open to students with undergraduate degrees in any discipline. We seek students whose academic records and work experiences identify them as potential leaders in IT practice.

Applying

In reviewing your application, we consider several criteria including your undergraduate and, if applicable, graduate performance, your GMAT or GRE scores, your work experience, letters of recommendation, and extracurricular involvement.

The following items should be included in a complete application:

  • UC Graduate School Admission Application. This application is required of all graduate applicants to the University of Cincinnati. This form must be completed online at https://www.grad.uc.edu/admissions/app/ . There is a $45 application fee.
  • GMAT or GRE Scores. Have your official scores sent directly to us by Educational Testing Services (Our ETS code is 1833; Department code is not applicable/necessary as we have online access to your scores based on the institution information). Scores are valid for five years. To register for the GMAT, you may call 1-800-GMAT-NOW or register via the internet at www.gmat.org To register for the GRE, you may call 1-800-GRE-CALL, or register via the internet at www.gre.org.  The University of Cincinnati through Communiversity offers both GMAT and GRE preparation courses.  To register for either of these courses you may call 1-513-556-6932 or visit the Communiversity website.
  • Academic Transcripts. Please have official transcripts sent to you in a sealed envelope from each college or university you have attended - regardless of whether you graduated or how many credit hours you earned. Include all transcripts in their originally sealed envelopes as part of your application. A transcript request form can be downloaded from: www.business.uc.edu/MSIS/Admissions/Application. International students from institutions that do not issue academic transcripts can submit certified copies of their marksheets.
  • Letters of Recommendation. You need letters from two people who are familiar with your ability and accomplishments. Please provide each of these individuals with a copy of the recommendation form. The recommendation form can be downloaded from: www.business.uc.edu/MSIS/Admissions/Application. Have your references send their letters to you in a sealed envelope, and include these sealed envelopes in your application package.
  • Career Goal Statement. Please answer the following question in less than 500 words: How will the MS-IS degree from the University of Cincinnati help you accomplish your career goals? Please sign your name below the text of your essay.
  • Resume. You must include a current resume with your application.
  • Official TOEFL Scores. If English is not your native language, you must also provide us with your TOEFL score. Scores should be sent directly to the university from ETS (our ETS code is 1833; Department code is not applicable/necessary as we have online access to your scores based on the institution information). The minimum acceptable TOEFL score for admission is 250 for the computer-based test or 600 for the paper-based test or 100 for the new internet based test. Information about TOEFL is available on the internet at www.toefl.org.

Telephone Interviews

All international applicants considered for admission are contacted for a telephone interview. Domestic applicants may also be contacted for a telephone or face-to-face interview. Please provide a current telephone number for this purpose.

Tuition & Fees

MS-IS Tuition and Fees follow the same structure as that of the MBA program. Full-time students typically complete 4 full quarters of coursework and 2-3 quarters of paid co-op/internship. Part-time students typically take 8 credits per quarter and complete the program in 8-9 quarters.

Application Deadlines:

Application deadlines are specified at the top of this page.

Please note that the review of your application will only begin after all components of your application have been received. Applications are considered on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply early. This is especially important for international applicants due to lengthy visa procedures.
