MS-Accounting Program

The MS Accounting Program is a degree program which, when added to a business baccalaureate degree in Accounting or its equivalent, satisfies the education requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination in the State of Ohio and 45 other states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam with similar education requirements.

The MS Accounting Program is designed for the following types of students:

  1. students with a baccalaureate degree in accounting
  2. students with non-accounting business degrees
  3. students with non-business degrees.

For a student who has a baccalaureate degree in business with a major in Accounting, the MS Accounting Program requires 48-quarter credits of graduate courses. These students may choose from one of the following tracks:

  1. General Accounting Track
  2. Taxation Track

For a student who has a non-accounting business degree, the MS Accounting Program requires 56-quarter credits of graduate courses.

For a student who has a non-business degree, the MS Accounting Program requires 68-quarter credits of graduate courses.

The MS Accounting Program at the University of Cincinnati is offered in two formats:

  1. as a Full-Time Program for students who can take 14 to 18 quarter credits of coursework per quarter
  2. as a Part-Time Program for students who are currently employed and can only take two courses per quarter in the evenings or Saturdays.

The length of the Full-Time Program will vary depending upon whether the student has a baccalaureate degree in accounting (3 quarters), a non-accounting business degree (4 quarters) or a non-business degree (5 quarters).

The length of the Part-Time Program will vary depending upon whether the student has a baccalaureate degree in accounting (6 quarters), a non-accounting business degree (8 quarters) or a non-business degree (10 quarters).
