Objective
Successors of a family business face unique challenges that are distinctly different that those faced by senior generation leaders and by non-family member counterparts. The issues of different management and leadership styles, along with balancing family and business dynamics, create new and complex challenges for the Next Generation. It is important for the Next Generation to gain a good understanding of where their strengths lie, and where they need assistance, as well as a clearer picture of the family culture and how it interacts with the business.
It is equally important to develop a clear strategy for the business, to set goals for the business, the family and oneself, and to design a clear path on how to reach such desired goals. The creation of a network of resources and support that can provide assistance throughout ones career is also critical to the ongoing success of the Next Generation.
