Cork IrelandUniversity College Cork is located in south-west Ireland in Cork, Ireland's second largest city with a population of around 200,000. The University enrolls over 14,500 students, of which over 1900 are international students representing 75 nationalities worldwide. Founded in 1845, UCC is one of Ireland's oldest institutions of higher learning. Today it is Ireland's leading research institute.

Cork sits on the south coast and is a busy industrial center, with food processing, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and brewing as some of the major industries. In 2005, Cork was named a European Cultural Capital because of its historic and cultural heritage. The surrounding countryside is beautiful: the granite mountains of Mourn, the lakes of Killarney, the ring of Kerry, miles of rolling hills and lush valleys. An annual international film festival is held in Cork, and in addition to a variety of cultural activities, there are many sporting opportunities.
