Nantes, France

When:  Middle of June - End of July
Length of time in Nantes: 6 weeks

Audencia Nantes, Ecole de Management, offers a 6 week summer program for UC students. Students earn 12 credits: they take three courses on the European Union taught in English by European faculty, and a CoB course, Managing Cultural Differences. The program also includes a study tour to Brussels, where students visit EU offices. During the program, participants live with a French family and typically travel on the weekends. If they wish, students can take French classes.  Scholarships are available!

The City

Nantes (pop. 550,000) is France's sixth largest city. It is famous for the Edict of Nantes (1598) which gave Protestants the right to worship freely. Nantes was home to the Dukes of Brittany, and became an important port for the slave traders in the eighteenth century. Today, the city is a leader in technological and international industries, with a strong agricultural and maritime base. It has a vibrant cultural life and excellent access to the Atlantic coast and Loire Valley castles. Nantes is just 2 hours from Paris by high speed train.
