About the BSIM Program

The University of Cincinnati has one of the oldest Industrial Management programs in the world. Over the last five years, we have benchmarked our program with leading Industrial management programs (such as those at Georgia tech, Purdue, and Carnegie Mellon). We have added 3 full-time faculty members from leading Universities to teach in the program and offer state of the art education in:

  • Supply chain management
  • Information technology for services
  • Enterprise resource planning
  • Project management
  • Operations planning & scheduling
  • Quality management

What is Industrial Management?

The BSIM is designed for students with strong technical and quantitative abilities who desire management careers. It combines 2 years of engineering studies with 2 years of business studies. Students may begin as freshmen in the College of Business or transfer into the program from College of Engineering. The program allows you to work (co-op) for one year between studies in order to gain practical work experience as well.

BSIM = Excellence in education

You want to know what industrial management is, is it the right program for you, and how does it enable you to be a productive manager in the future?

  • Managers responsible for ensuring delivery of goods and services in every industry require an enormous amount of assistance and support because of the complexity of most production systems.
  • The burden of planning, scheduling, and coordination of work flow and processing activities to deliver quality products and services effectively and efficiently falls squarely on the shoulders of operations managers. They support other managers in finance and marketing functions to make the overall organization operate effectively.
  • A degree in Industrial management positions you for such challenges through education in subjects pertinent to direct supervision of tasks (line jobs) as well as support activities such as quality management, project planning and materials control (staff jobs).
  • The BSIM from Cincinnati enjoys an outstanding reputation and recruiters throughout the Midwest compete for its quality graduates. Positions offered recently include production manager, manufacturing engineer, industrial marketing representative, and purchasing manager.
  • Salaries are typically in the 90th percentile of other graduates from the college of business.
