The Accounting program stresses basic conceptual business knowledge as the foundation for accounting career development, with varying degrees of specialization. The integral concentration provides breadth of coverage in accounting, allowing for several elective options in areas such as financial reporting, taxation, or management accounting.
A traditional accounting degree requires the completion of the accounting integral and focus sequences. Alternatively, students completing the accounting integral may complete a different focus. To take the Certified Public Accountant's (CPA) examination, coursework completion above and beyond the Bachelor of Business Administration requirements is needed. Students should check with the CoB Department of Accounting before selecting Integral courses and for information on the MS in accounting.
Choosing accounting as an integral with another focus provides a breadth of accounting experience incorporated with a focus in another aspect of business.
In addition to the opportunities provided by the selected focus concentration, completing the accounting integral qualifies entry into positions such as financial management, information systems, or financial marketing.
