BBA Freshman/Sophomore Prerequisites

As pre-majors in the College of Business, the first step toward a degree is the successful completion of a series of general knowledge courses. These courses provide a core of knowledge that prepares students for participation in the upper-division program. Once the following preparatory courses are completed, students achieve junior-level status and may apply to transition into their desired majors. They are then eligible to register for upper-division business courses (any course numbered 300 or higher).

  • English Composition ENGL101, 102 (6 hrs)*
  • Fundamentals of Applied Calculus MATH224 (3 hrs)* OR
  • Finite Math MATH225* (3 hrs) or the equivalent
  • Applied Calculus I,II Math226 and 227 (6 hrs) * OR
  • Calculus I, II Math251, 252* (10 hrs)
  • Management Skills Practicum BA151 and 152 (4 hrs) *
  • Sociology/Psychology Elective, SOC141, or PSYC101, 102, or 103 (3 hrs)
  • Business Pathways I, II. III BA 141, 142, 143 (3 hrs) **
  • Introduction to Economics Econ101, 102 (6 hrs)*
  • Communications COMM171, and 281 (6 hrs)*
  • Computer Problem Solving for Business IS280 (5 hrs) *
  • Legal Environment BLAW280 (4 hrs) *
  • Financial Accounting ACCT281 (5 hrs) *
  • Managerial Accounting ACCT282 (5 hrs) *
  • Business Statistics QA281,2 (8 hrs) *
  • Co-op for Business Administration 36PD222 (1 hr)*

Students are also required to complete 18 credit hours to fulfill the language/global area studies/study abroad requirement.

* Students who fail to complete these courses before enrolling in junior core and higher level business classes will be dropped from said higher level courses.

** Transfer students may substitute free elective hours for BA-141, 142, 143.
