UC alumnus Fred Habegger, chairman of The Habegger Corporation, received the Carl H. Lindner Award for Outstanding Business Achievement. This award is given to a UC College of Business graduate who demonstrates outstanding achievement in the field of business as represented by the recipient's entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to business and community, and achievement of the highest level of success within one's profession. Since 1970, Mr. Habegger and his family have expanded the company from a one location, $2 million business to over $150 million in assets with 23 locations. The company was recognized in 2001 with the Goering Center's Tri-State Family Business of the Year award. Mr. Habegger has also served the community through membership on various boards including the board of the Cincinnati Chapter of the YMCA and is past president of the Board of Trustees of Kenwood Country Club and Belwood Country Club. He is currently a member of the board of Al Neyer, Inc. and TP Mechanical Contractors and is active in the Cincinnati Legatus Chapter. Mr. Habegger has a long history in the Cincinnati area. He was a member of the 1957 class of St. Xavier High School and obtained a BBA from the University of Cincinnati in 1963. Mr. Habegger is a generous supporter of UC and the College of Business through his contributions to UCATS and the McMicken Society.

Michael Paxton is the chairman of Transport Corporation of America. He received the Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to the College of Business, the University of Cincinnati as a whole, and the Cincinnati community.
After receiving his education at the College of Business (BBA '69 and MBA '70), Mr. Paxton began a successful career in corporate management. He has served as president and CEO of Transport Corporation of America; president and CEO of the Sunbeam Health and Safety Company; chairman, president and CEO of O-Cedar Holdings, Incorporated; president and CEO of Haagen-Dazs; and president of the Baked Goods Division of Pillsbury. He currently acts as chairman of the Board of Directors of Transport America. He also serves on the board of directors of Gemini, Inc. Thanks to his commitment to improving the university and its programs, Mr. Paxton has left a lasting imprint on the College and the University. Mr. Paxton was instrumental in facilitating the development of the James S. Womack/Gemini Chair of Signage and Visual Marketing at the College of Business. He worked with James and Sharon Weinel, whose gift made the chair possible, and college officials to ensure that the established position would optimize the partnership between the University of Cincinnati and the sign industry. Currently, Mr. Paxton continues to enrich the College of Business through service on the Business Advisory Council, where he shares his wealth of corporate experience and business knowledge.
 | The American Financial Group was recognized as the recipient of the College of Business Cooperative Education Partnership Award. The company has a successful history of partnering with the College of Business Cooperative Education Program providing diverse and challenging work assignments for co-op students. American Financial Group affords students the opportunity to apply their classroom learning within a real world business setting. They are given the tools they need to succeed and benefit from various professional experiences designed to introduce them to the operations of the organization, specifically in the areas of specialty property and casualty insurance, annuities and supplemental insurance. In fact, many UC College of Business co-ops students choose to build their careers at American Financial Group and accept full time opportunities within the company following graduation.
College of Business junior Chelsea Kindschuh was also recognized during the event as the Carl H. Lindner Scholarship recipient.
