 William Whitaker serves the College of Business as Senior Associate Dean for Academics and Administration. He joined the university after many years of service in both the academic and business worlds. Most recently, Dr. Whitaker served as Manager of Real Estate Investment Research at Nationwide Insurance. In this position, he conducted research in support of a commercial mortgage loan portfolio exceeding $12 billion with annual loan originations averaging $2.5 billion. Issues investigated include portfolio strategy plus credit risk, required capital and loan pricing. Dr. Whitaker has also served as the Vice President, Director of Investment Research at AIG Global Investment Corp. and Vice President, Investment Research at Prudential Real Estate Investment Corporation where his research focused on equity investments in real estate both domestic and global.
In addition to his private sector experience, Dr. Whitaker has thirty years of academic experience, including twenty years as an academic administrator. He has held positions at Florida State University, Morehead State University, Georgia Southern University and Ohio University. Dr. Whitaker has a history of building program enrollments both at the department and college levels. In addition, he has been successful in raising funds from private sources plus state and federal contracts and grants.
Dr. Whitaker has published a number of articles, reports and monographs in the areas of real estate investment, real estate valuation and economic development. Real estate research interests include commercial mortgage loan pricing, international real estate investment and real estate valuation.
Dr. Whitaker served as a Governor appointee to the Joint Committee on Revenue Structure for the State of Georgia. Other activities include serving as a Director for the Kentucky Association of Realtors plus serving as a Board member for the Kentucky Council on Economic Education.
