Norman R. Baker is a University Professor Emeritus and Provost Emeritus. He has held several administrative positions, including Senior Vice President and Provost, 1984-1993, and Head of Quantitative Analysis, 1974-1979. Prior to joining UC in 1974, he taught at Purdue University and Georgia Institute of Technology in Industrial Engineering.
Dr. Baker has co-authored one book and published over 30 papers in such journals as Management Science, IEEE Transactions, Omega, Research Policy, Decision Sciences, and Journal of Industrial Engineering. Most of his research has been in two areas -- management of research and development and hierarchical decision models.
He has reviewed for several journals and for The National Science Foundation, served on a number of business and community boards, been funded for research by the National Science Foundation, the Office of Army Research, and several companies, and has consulted with numerous companies and state and federal agencies.
