David F. Rogers is Associate Professor of Quantitative Analysis & Operations Management in the College of Business at the University of Cincinnat (UC). He received his PhD in Management (Quantitative Methods & Operations Management) in 1986 from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University and MBA (Quantitative Methods) in 1980 & BS (Mathematics & General Business) in 1978 from Murray State University. Prof. Rogers had a previous appointment in the College of Business & Public Affairs at Murray State & has been at UC since 1985. His primary research interests are in operations research applied to complex management problems, supply chain network & inventory location modeling, cellular manufacturing systems, & portfolio optimization analysis.
Dr. Rogers is a member of the Institute for Opertaions Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), Institute of Industrial Engineers (Senior Member), Classification Society of No. America, Sigma Xi, Pi Mu Epsilon, Beta Gamma Sigma, Alpha Chi, Gamma Beta Phi, & Alpha Kappa Psi. He received the Michael L. Dean Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award in 2006 & was selected as Outstanding Professor by the UC MBA Association in 1993 & 1988. He was General Chair for the 1999 INFORMS Conference, Division Director & Board Member for INFORMS from 1999-2001, Proceedings Coordinator for the 1993 DSI National Meeting, President of Omega Rho International Honor Society of INFORMS from 1998-2000, & is currently the Historian, Website Manager, & Executive Board Member for Omega Rho. The Association of College Honor Societies recognized Prof. Rogers with one of five Certificates of Distinction for his work with Omega Rho in 2000. He revived the MSBA-QA program & was Director from 1993-2000, received the UC Faculty Achievement Award in 1997, & received the INFORMS Moving Spirit Award in 1996 for reviving the Cincinnati/Dayton Chapter during his presidency from 1994-1996.
Dr. Rogers has consulted for Lexis/Nexis, Kroger, Cinergy, Bethesda Hospital, CRA Solutions, Inc., Flaggs USA, Toyota, Fith Third Bank, Odor Mangement, Inc., & Merchants Cold Storage. He has taught over 170 sections of 23 courses at UC, Purdue, & Murray State and has served on 5 doctoral & 50 masters committees at UC. Prof. Rogers is Facutly Advisor for the UC INFORMS Student Chapter & the UC Omega Rho Chapter. He founded the UC College of Business' E. Leonard Arnoff Memorial Lecture on the Practice of Management Science with the 17th lecture scheduled for Spring, 2008. Prof. Rogers has published in Operations Research, Journal of the Operations Research Society, Computers & Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Operations Management, Decision Sciences, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Operations Research, Cost Analysis Applications of Economics & Operations Research, & Medical Decision Making.
