Tom Dalziel is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management at the University of Cincinnati. He earned BA's in Education and French from the University of Lethbridge and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario. His PhD in Business Administration is from the W.P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University.
Professor Dalziel serves as an ad hoc reviewer for the Academy of Management Journal and the Journal of Business Research, and has served as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of High Technology Management Research. He has published his work in the Academy of Management Review and presented his research by invitation at various universities and at the Academy of Management and Strategic Management Society Conferences in Canada, Europe and the US.
His research areas include boards of directors, senior executives, and corporate entrepreneurship. At present, he is studying the influence of boards and top management teams (e.g., human capital and social networks) on entrepreneurial behavior (e.g., innovation and venturing) in US biotech and pharmaceutical firms.
Prior to his academic career, Professor Dalziel was a Project Manager for a consulting firm which targets the Global 500. As an entrepreneur, he has founded several companies including a for-profit computer consulting firm and a non-profit society aimed at promoting lifelong learning and education. He has worked in over a dozen countries and served executives of small, medium, and large corporations in 23 industries including food processing, healthcare, information technology, investment banking, medical devices, newspaper publishing, outplacement, office imaging, and radio, to name a few. He is currently in the process of launching a nonprofit entreprise linking volunteer consultants to entrepreneurs in Africa and other developing economies around the world.
