Her interests include the legal education of accountants, the legal aspects of entrepreneurship and globalization. In connection with these interests, Ms. Hawkins has made presentations to various delegations including a group of Chinese managers, and members of the Munich Bar Association.

She has received the EXCEL award for excellence in undergraduate education, and has co-authored an instructor's manual.
