By: Lisa Groh

In the February 2009 issue of The Financial Review, authors Chan, Chen and Fung find that the finance department at UC's College of Business is number one among 2,161 institutions in terms of value-added research productivity. The authors examined publication rates in 18 quality finance journals to determine the top institutions.

In addition, the study ranked the UC finance department as number nine in terms of being the best at training PhD students, putting UC in the company of schools such as Purdue and Ohio State University.

The ranking reflects the department's emphasis on providing a rigorous and relevant curriculum while maintaining frequent contributions to leading-edge knowledge, analysis and practice in finance.

The Financial Review, the official journal of the Eastern Finance Association, is a quarterly journal publishing original research in financial economics.
