What Are Our Students Saying About Lindner Honors-Plus?

Why Lindner Honors-PLUS?

"As a student who nearly accepted admission at another University, I can honestly say that the Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS Program offers too many advantages to name over traditional institutions.  Obviously, the opportunities of a freshman internship and cooperative education are numerous and compelling, but another big part of Lindner Honors-PLUS is involvement.  There is a certain culture about the program, and when young students come in and see how much older students do on campus and in the community, it encourages those new students to do the same without ever having it explicitly stated.  However, Dr. Ricketts is a big advocate of involvement and not simply academics, allowing this culture to flourish and grow with each new class.  The track record of Lindner Honors-PLUS students on campus speaks for itself.  In addition, the enriched academic schedule and personal attention paid to students in choosing classes and even majors particularly adds to our academic experience.  For all of these reasons I am grateful that I chose to accept my admission into the Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS Program"

-Chris Nebsitt, Class of 2013

"I was hell-bent on Ohio State, in fact I was going there.  Then my mom looked me square in the eyes and said 'Marissa, look at what you are being offered.  Can you really pass this up?'  That was a defining moment in my life, I couldn't have made a better decision."

-Marissa  Carducci, Class of 2013

"Unlike most I knew coming into school I wanted to go into Accounting.  I had visited about 7 other schools when I finally visited UC and thanks to the help of admissions I found myself at the footsteps of Lindner Hall to talk to Mr. Scott Gregory.  As my mother and I spoke  to Mr. Gregory I never would have imagined asking about an honors program would prompt one of the most exciting opportunities I was ever faced with.  I was drawn to UC because of the amazing co-op program but when I heard about the amazing combination of co-op, honors classes, leadership experiences and study abroad opportunities Lindner Honors-PLUS could offer me I knew immediately I had found my home.  I could have never imagined gaining the opportunities I do on an everyday basis in this program anywhere else in the US.  Lindner Honors-PLUS has not only molded me into a strong business professional, but a well rounded young professional will all the knowledge to succeed no matter what path I may take.  I could have never imagined a more fulfulling college experience; joining Lindner Honors-PLUS was definitly one of the best decisions of my life."

-Stephanie Wenning, Class of 2011

“I grew up in a small farm village in northern Ohio. In addition to extensive extracurricular activities, I excelled in the classroom and began to develop an intense desire to learn. My drive to advance and succeed quickly brought me to my quest for an institution of higher learning. I compared programs across the state and began to ask myself where was the best place for me to grow. Little did I know that my decision to enroll in the Lindner Honors-PLUS program would be one of the most influential career decisions I would ever make.”

-CN, Class of 2004

“Just two years ago, I was a high school senior facing the biggest decision of my life up until that point: Where to attend college. The decision became simple when I received the notification of my acceptance into the Lindner Honors-PLUS program at the University of Cincinnati. My attraction to the program was not the scholarship, but rather all of the opportunities and experiences that are integral parts of the program. The scholarship was just an added bonus.”

-LM, Class of 2004

“Lindner Honors-PLUS is the reason why I am a student at the University of Cincinnati. I believe that Lindner Honors-PLUS molds the future of its students by turning them into mature business professionals. It is truly unique, and it is to my honor to be a participant. Anything that I could ever write in a letter would never be able to put into words the level of commitment I have developed to the Lindner Honors-PLUS program.”

-KN, Class of 2004

“In my Junior and Senior years of high school I contemplated the major I wanted to focus on in college as well as the college or university I would attend. Coming from a small town, graduating from a public high school with 38 other students, the thought of attending a large university was intimidating. UC was by far the largest school I looked at.'

'After getting the grand tour of UC, my visit ended by speaking with a representative from The College of Business, Mr. Scott Gregory. Scott spoke to my parents and me about The College of Business, its outstanding faculty and job opportunities through the co-op program. At the end of our meeting he added that I might be interested in applying for the Lindner Honors-PLUS Program. The Program was open to an elite 20-30 students, offered an internship following my 1st year, included an abroad study experience during my third year, and contained seminar classes as well as special opportunities to meet leaders and businessmen in the community. I am thrilled that I accepted.'

-JY, Class of 2003

“As a student in the Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS program, I am fairly unique. I transferred into this program from Biology for the first term of my second year at UC. This gave me the unique opportunity to experience the University from the perspective of a mainstream student, then to experience it from the perspective of an Lindner Honors-PLUS student. I absolutely feel that my switch of colleges was made countless times better by my involvement in Lindner Honors-PLUS. This program allows students to be 'regular' business students, but then enriches our experience at key points. These points fall into several broad categories. I feel that being involved with Lindner Honors-PLUS has benefited me academically, by providing opportunities to which I would not otherwise have access, and by giving me a dedicated staff of people to whom I can always turn for help.”

“Additional opportunities beyond the classroom are another benefit of being part of the Lindner Honors-PLUS program. The trip to Europe in the summer of the third year is the most visual and advertised of these opportunities. I will be participating in this trip this coming summer, and so I cannot comment on it as of yet, but I consider myself very fortunate to be able to take such a trip. In addition to this trip, Lindner Honors-PLUS also offers social opportunities within itself. Having taken so many classes together, and for the most part, living together during the freshman year causes a very tight knit group to form. I would expect that many of the groups of friends in the Lindner Honors-PLUS program would continue to be viable long into adulthood. In addition to providing friends, the structure of the program also allows for very easy access to 'study buddies'. The small classes encourage interaction, as opposed to large lecture hall classes in which very few people would take the initiative to meet other people.”

“I drastically changed majors after my freshman year, and even considered changing schools, perhaps to one with a better ranked Business School, but after seeing the Lindner Honors-PLUS program, I decided that I would have unparalleled opportunities if I chose to stay. I can honestly say that Lindner Honors-PLUS has given me an advantage that I feel will definitely place me at the top of peer group upon graduation. It has given me the chance to develop personally, professionally, and academically much more than the average college student. I feel that Lindner Honors-PLUS is unique, well run, effective, and a great asset to the students involved in it.”

-ZO, Class of 2003

“The Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS program has provided me with the foundation for future success as a business and community leader. Without this program, I would still be an 'A' student who was active on his campus and in the community. But I would then be just a number - just like any other business student. But I am not. Lindner Honors-PLUS recognized the potential I had as a high school senior to become a business and community leader. They have provided me with an opportunity for success, and I am capitalizing on that chance. There is no program in the country like Lindner Honors-PLUS, and certainly nothing that better enables and empowers its students to become future business and community leaders.”

–MO, Class of 2003

“My admission to the Lindner Honors-PLUS program was very different from most of the other students. I started at Indiana University because of the strong reputation of its business school. During my freshman year I attained a 3.83 GPA and was admitted to the Honors Business program. During my sophomore year, through a friend of my family, I learned about the Lindner Honors-PLUS program that was just starting at the University of Cincinnati. When I met with Dr. Baker at UC, I was very impressed with the mission of Lindner Honors-PLUS and the methods of the program to develop future business leaders. The advantages of transferring into the Lindner Honors-PLUS program were too great to turn down. Indiana has a wonderful business school, and I was excited about its Honors Business program, but the opportunity to participate in the Cooperative Education program at UC, the opportunity to travel overseas and the full-tuition scholarship made my decision to transfer an easy one.”

–TS, Class of 2002

The Academic Experience

“Lindner Honors-PLUS works hard to choose professors for our classes that are both excited to teach and engaged in our learning. Many of my professors maintain a delicate balance of friendship and authority. They frequently go out of their way to better our educational experience through interactive applications of course concepts and providing home contact information for further inquiries outside of the allotted class time. The classes are accelerated, which forces us to remain dedicated to our work and allows us to challenge ourselves. We live a daily life of high expectations by our program, our peers and ourselves. This healthy competition allows us to learn from each other and build upon innate skills already instilled within us.”

-CK, Class of 2004

“While the program provides the foundation for success, the students have to actualize the opportunities. The biggest asset of the program is the dedication of the Lindner Honors-PLUS faculty. The faculty is always more than willing to meet with us and to assist us wherever possible in our academic, professional and personal lives. They know all of our names and some of what we are involved in. I do not know of another academic program that cares so much about the both the professional and personal success of their students.”

-LM, Class of 2004

“Part of the program involves co-operative education; this proves to be one of the largest assets to the Lindner Honors-PLUS program. The University of Cincinnati founded co-op in 1906, making the Professional Practice program the oldest and most experienced in the country. It's no coincidence that when you put two of the strongest programs of their kind together, the results are going to be unprecedented. The hand-in-hand relationship of co-op and Lindner Honors-PLUS is definitely no exception.”

-KN, Class of 2003

“The main focus of any college program is (or should be) academic enrichment. Lindner Honors-PLUS provides a myriad of opportunities to get more out of our time at college. Lindner Honors-PLUS sections of core classes, taught by top-notch faculty, are one way this is accomplished; special seminars, open to only Lindner Honors-PLUS students are another way. Having taken both Lindner Honors-PLUS and regular classes at the University I feel that many of the Lindner Honors-PLUS classes have been of higher quality than the standard sections of the same classes. The faculty seems to enjoy teaching our group of students, and they seem to be willing to really put themselves into the class. The special seminars are above and beyond the classes in which the rest of the business students get the opportunity to enroll. These courses cover topics that are both pertinent and interesting. They are normally very informally structured, and the instructors are willing to be flexible and work with the personality of the class as a whole.”

-ZO, Class of 2003

“My experience in the Lindner Honors-PLUS program, and I think I speak for all of us, has been unique. The classes we've taken and the educational experience we've undertaken has been more challenging and more insightful than any regular program. Much like graduate level classes, the importance of teamwork, of critical and analytical thinking, and of being able to communicate our ideas, has been emphasized. As a result, we are more prepared to enter into the challenging and competitive world of business and the responsibilities that come along with being a business leader.”

-BJ, Class of 2002

Personal Growth

"The Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS Program, in its relatively short history, had developed a superior reputation and network that begins at the University of Cincinnati but extends all over the world.  This identity facilitates personal growth for the students through rare opportunities and remarkable experiences.  Every student is given resources to pursue their passion within the world of business.  Wether it is becoming the Student Body President or studying abroad, the students can attribute much of their accomplishments to the Lindner Honors-PLUS Program."

-Lance Durbin, Class of 2011

"The Lindner Honors-PLUS Program has impacted my personal development in more ways that I can articulate.  The program has offered me a challenging but incredibly supportive environment that allows me to develop how I see fit.  From the encouragement to take part in whatever campus groups I have a passion for, to the seminars that are put on monthly, to the guest speakers that are brought in, I've been given the opportunity to take away from each thing what I choose.  Lindner Honors-PLUS has made it easy for me to figure out who I want to be both professionally and personally."

-Michael Cullum, Class of 2011

"I learned about the Lindner Honors-PLUS Program only after I started my freshman year at UC.  The more I heard about the opportunities they offered, the close interaction with the program directors, the study abroad trip and the sense of belonging to a smaller community within the University, the more I wanted to be a part of it.  I was fortunate enough to be accepted into the program my sophomore year.  As an international student from India, this helped me tremendously financially.  But more importantly, I feel I have grown and matured into an independent, confident individual.  The Lindner Honors-PLUS Program encouraged me to expand my horizons and to step out of my comfort zone, constantly striving to become a better leader and a more well-rounded student."

-Upasana Todi, Class of 2011

“Without this program I would not have been able to grow into the person I am today. I know that much has come from my own determination, yet without Lindner Honors-PLUS taking a chance on me, I would not have been able to demonstrate my potential.”

-CK, Class of 2004

“Lindner Honors-PLUS has impacted my life in numerous ways. I have grown as a student through my academic pursuits. I have grown professionally not only through my work experience, but also through the seminars with leading business professionals for prestigious corporations such as The Procter & Gamble Co., The Boeing Co., and Credit Swiss First Boston, just to name a few. But even more importantly, I have grown as an individual. I have created meaningful goals for both the short and long-term. I have developed many strong friendships with the other students in the program. I have discovered what inspires me. My hope is that other students will be able to have the opportunity to experience the Lindner Honors-PLUS Program at the University of Cincinnati for themselves.”

-LM, Class of 2004

“One of the many benefits of Lindner Honors-PLUS is continued emphasis on leadership building. This is one quality that is not normally taught in a classroom. Every quarter Lindner Honors-PLUS students are required to take seminar classes. In these classes there is a constant emphasis on maximizing your effectiveness as a person and a leader. I can honestly say that my participation in the Lindner Honors-PLUS program has resulted in an enhanced development of my leadership skills.”

-KN, Class of 2004

“The Lindner Honors-PLUS Program has given me the chance to prove that a small town girl can make it in a large university and make a difference in becoming actively involved. I hope that with financial support Lindner Honors-PLUS will be able to give others like myself the same great opportunity it has given me.”

-JY, Class of 2003

“I have grown tremendously since my acceptance into the Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS program. I began my college career as a timid freshman, and I have grown to become a confident leader. Through the constant interaction with business executives, I have learned what it means to be a business leader. This grooming will benefit me greatly throughout my career and is the foundation for a successful future. Lindner Honors-PLUS recognized my potential, and has provided me with situations in which I can utilize my strengths and buttress my weaknesses.”

-MO, Class of 2003

Intern/Co-op Program

"As a student who arrived on campus without a particular interest in a specific area of business, my internship and co-op work experience has been the most educating and guiding experience of my college career.  My first professional job experience help my understand the culture of the business world, and although I did not stay with that company, I learned about myself and what I would realistically like to do, or not do with my life.  My second employer has exposed me to a field of work that I truely enjoy being part of, and without this experience I still would likely be lost on deciding which field of business to study.  After being a part of cooperative education, it is hard for me to fathom the stress and uncertainty of declaring a major without knowing what the field is really like in the 'real world'."

-Alex Glutz, Class of 2011

“My co-op experience has given me much more than a better understanding of the business world. The Procter and Gamble Company has taught me to trust my instincts, to attack my goals with enthusiasm and to only settle for an occupation that I have a passion for. I am currently employed on the Brand Management Team for Pepto Bismol. As a result of intense efforts by Lindner Honors-PLUS intern coordinators, I have been lucky enough to be the youngest Brand Management intern in P&G history. Many people would think that I spend most of my time in the copy room or running for coffee, but neither could be further from the truth. I have projects that provide real solutions for real company issues. I am respected for the assets I bring to the team yet in addition, I am constantly learning from intelligent, experienced co-workers. Co-op gives me the opportunity to apply my in-class material. When I learned 'simulation' in my Quantitative Analysis class, I could use those skills immediately to evaluate product pricing within specific consumer markets. It excites me to know that through my co-op experience I can 'test out' occupations in an effort to discover my calling.”

-CK, Class of 2004

“As a freshman, I was preparing my résumé, and participating in job interviews for a summer internship. I remember feeling apprehensive as my starting date drew near. This was my first full-time job and my work had real life implications. Fortunately, my co-workers were amazing! They were eager to help, and they entrusted me with 'real' work, not just photocopying. I was participating in the same projects as the professional accountants. Now that I am a sophomore, I am anticipating my next co-operative education experience this summer with the same company. I know that the on-the-job experience will bring together the academic side of my education.”

-LM, Class of 2004

“Upon entering the program two years ago, I have grown exponentially as a person, and a business professional. As a part of being in the program students are required to participate in an internship immediately following their freshmen year. This is invaluable work experience that no other students are afforded. The beginning internship period allows a beginning college student to mature and get an early grasp as to what 'real world' business operations are like. As a person I have developed a more diligent work ethic, and a more focused outlook on all situations.”

-KN, Class of 2004

“When we first interviewed for our internships, Lindner Honors-PLUS secured a human resources professional from Deloitte & Touche to assist us with resume preparation and interviewing skills. This coaching helped me to secure an invaluable internship and co-op position with the American Financial Tax Department. The specialized Lindner Honors-PLUS co-op program of American Financial has enabled me to encounter a challenging workload and to succeed far beyond my expectations. I feel that my co-op experience is superior to a normal third year accounting student, and I credit the preparation of the Lindner Honors-PLUS academic curriculum and the healthy relationship between Lindner Honors-PLUS and American Financial for the success of the co-op program.”

-MO, Class of 2003

“I thought I'd take a few minutes and let you guys know how everything has been going for me in Germany, which has been great! Up until last week, I was relatively busy with work at Arthur Andersen. I was on a two-month project with one of our higher-profile clients. It was pretty cool—the project was interesting and I got to work in the biggest skyscraper in Europe. In a few weeks, I'm scheduled to work on another project in Hamburg (4 hours by train north of Frankfurt), which should be interesting. My German has definitely improved since I arrived. I'm to the point where I can understand everything and communicate at least at a basic level using only German. I have also been traveling almost every weekend.”

-JC, Class of 2002

“I then stayed on to visit family in London and received an offer from Accenture to apply for an internship in London. I received the position and am now carrying out my six months with one of the world's top consulting firms. When I applied for the position, I had to compete with top students from London and all parts of the world. Lindner Honors-PLUS played a significant role in my ability to have a competitive edge. After describing the program, my interviewers were very impressed with the curriculum and have stated so on numerous occasions.”

-SD, Class of 2002

“Work is going really well. I was just switched to a new client. It is Accenture's biggest deal ever (in all actuality probably the biggest consulting deal ever), and is keeping me really busy, but I enjoy it! JC 97 is coming into town tomorrow (Thursday) for the weekend, so I will get to speak with him in the evening for a bit about how Germany is going. Then on Friday I am flying out-of-town for the corporate soccer tournament in Ireland so that should be lots of fun. I have wanted to play soccer in Ireland since I was a little girl!”

-SD, Class of 2002

“I co-oped in the Finance Department of American Financial Group for two years. American Financial is one of the largest Property & Casualty Insurers in the U.S. The opportunity to gain valuable work experience while still attending college was a tremendous advantage. I was given significant responsibilities and worked closely with some of AFG's top executives.”

-TS, Class of 2002

Study Abroad Opportunities

“Another aspect I am looking forward to is the overseas trip during my third year in the program. This particularly intrigues me because the business world is increasingly a global market. A concrete understanding of the global market will greatly impact my future career.”

-LM, Class of 2004

“I have had the opportunity to study in France and Belgium with the students in my class. France was my first overseas experience and I gained many business and personal insights from my time there. I then stayed on to visit family in London and received an offer from Accenture to apply for an internship in London. I have also been able to study in Thailand for two months and must admit that I learned more during that time period that I ever have in my life. I was able to experience firsthand a different way of conducting business and a whole new way of life. It was from the relationships that I was able to foster in my Lindner Honors-PLUS classes that I found out about the experience and was able to make it a reality. Lindner Honors-PLUS also helped with this financially feasible. I don't know that I would have been able to afford to go without the scholarship support.”

-SD, Class of 2002

“My particular favorite part of the program was the study abroad program in Nantes, France. The experience we received and classes we attended were fantastic, but perhaps the greatest experience happened outside the classroom inside the homes of our host families. As the world is becoming more global in nature, especially given the role of the Internet in today's society, it is fundamental that we as business leaders can function and work in culturally diverse situations and circumstances.”

-BJ, Class of 2002

“During the Spring quarter of my junior year, my Lindner Honors-PLUS class spent five weeks in Europe taking classes, visiting international firms and experiencing European culture. The trip was a source of tremendous personal growth. It broadened my perspective on the business world and the benefits of experiencing new things.”

-TS, Class of 2002

University and Community Service

"I have become involved in the Student Alumni Council, Habitat for Humanity, University Honors Program and College of Business Student Ambassadors. I sit on student panels in an effort to recruit new bright individuals for the college and hostess at many alumni dinners to inform loyal alumni on current student issues. One of my projects this past year was to work with a student team on Little Sibs Weekend 2001. We provided a weekend of fun to acquaint young people to our campus and give current students the chance to take pride in their alma mater. I have participated in the Cincinnati Cross-Town Help-Out to fix up area urban schools and have worked with the Student Alumni Council to raise money for the cancer effort through The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Last fall I organized Banner Day 2000 at the University of Cincinnati. The event gave all student organizations on campus the opportunity to show their UC spirit by decorating a banner to be displayed at the last home football game. I recruited corporate sponsors and was able to give away prizes to the 'Most Spirited' group. I have organized many events and retreats, showing my leadership skills and have become more comfortable speaking in front of a variety of audiences. Last year I worked in the Career Development Center preparing students for work interviews and partnered the department with an on-line provider to allow student to browse internship options from their personal computers. Currently, in my spare time I tutor students within the athletic office, of which includes the UC 2000-2001 men's basketball team. Through tutoring I see how exciting it must be for teachers to see the 'light bulb' go off in a student's eyes. In addition, I can also see how they must be very patient. Recently I was recognized for my achievements through a nomination for Homecoming Court 2001, of which I am most honored.”

-CK, Class of 2004

“However, the program does not merely focus on academic and work experiences. Leadership within the University and the community is highlighted. In high school, I participated in many activities from athletics, to community service and spirit organizations. I wanted to continue my involvement throughout my collegiate career. I became very active in the Student Alumni Council my freshman year and was elected as the Vice President of Communications. The Student Alumni Council is a leadership organization representing various majors throughout the university. The primary tasks of the organization are to promote school spirit, and to assist the Alumni Association. I am also involved as a Student Ambassador for the College of Business, and a member of a new organization, SparkPeople CAMPUS. These groups all strive to develop our leadership skills and also encourage community involvement through various community service projects, like participating in the Relay For Life, a walk to help fight cancer.”

-LM, Class of 2004

“It is obvious to anyone entering the University that Lindner Honors-PLUS students are a growing and dominant group of campus leaders. Currently I am holding the position of Tour Coordinator at the Office of Admissions where I am responsible for organizing a group of approximately 60 public relations officers. I am also a member of many different campus organizations. Many other Lindner Honors-PLUS students are making themselves known on the Campus of UC, while at the same time promoting the program and its qualities.”

-KN, Class of 2004

“The program intimidated me partly because of the big school, and also because I was going to have to live up to the elite group I was now a part of. I soon grew out of this. During my freshman year I helped start committees within H+ to aid in the improvement and development of the program including academics, recruitment, social activities, and fundraisers for our abroad trip. Later that year I also founded a student-based mentoring program for H+ with another student. The guidance and encouragement from the faculty, staff and students influenced me and I grew both academically and socially. I started off as a quiet student (just ask Dr. Baker) and now am open to expressing my ideas and opinions about the program (only positive feedback of course). This past year I have also organized a welcome week picnic for the students, as well as an end of the year picnic. It's important to the program that the classes/students get to know one another better and use each other as resources in making the program the best it can be. I have used the confidence gained through the program to take on the initiative of being actively involved in the campus as a whole.”

-JY, Class of 2003

“Without the Lindner Honors-PLUS scholarship, I would not be able to be as active in my community and campus as I am. The lack of financial stress enables me to perform roughly 200 hours of community service every year. Many of these hours are spent with the Boy Scouts of America, an organization that shapes the future leaders of our country and provides positive male role models for our youth. I have found this experience to be one of the most rewarding in my life. I am extremely grateful to the Lindner Honors-PLUS program for enabling me to continue my involvement with the community and campus.”

-MO, Class of 2003

“The Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS Program has given me more opportunities than I have the time to explain. By far, the best experience for me has been the opportunity to participate in a program called Leadership Cincinnati.”

“Once a quarter we have the chance to hear a speaker, see a Cincinnati organization, talk to business leaders of Cincinnati, and be involved in the city. The Cincinnati Association for the Blind hosted one particular event and it was lead by former United Way and Community Chest President, Richard Aft. After the seminar I spoke with Mr. Aft about opportunities within the United Way. He told me about a program called the Volunteer Leadership Development Program (VLDP). This is a program that trains individuals in the Cincinnati Community about the responsibilities of serving on a non-for-profit board. Upon completing the training each participant is required to serve on a non-for-profit board for 3 years.”

“After speaking with him, my interest grew. I spoke with several people and became on of the first college students to enter the 6-month training. As I approach my VLDP graduation in June, I can't help but to feel honored and grateful. Most of all, I can't say enough about the program that allowed my passions for children and our community to become part of my daily repertoire.”

“I am currently interviewing and going through the rigorous board selection program, but I hope to serve on a board for an organization that serves children or the community in which I live.”

-MG, Class of 2002

These responsibilities include ethical business practices and a commitment to our communities., I, for instance, have enjoyed taking part in the organizing of student community service activities and functions. Some of these include, cooking dinner for the Ronald McDonald House, the Christmas Toy Drive for Children's Hospital, Habitat For Humanity, and several other smaller projects throughout the year. Each student committee, from Community Service to Social Functions, to Finance, were all created to give students leadership practice and experience.”

-BJ, Class of 2002

“I feel very blessed to receive the full-tuition scholarship from Lindner Honors-PLUS. This advantage has allowed me to spend time giving back to the University and the community. I have served as an academic tutor in the athletic department at UC. Our student-athletes spend significant time practicing and traveling to represent our University in a positive way. I felt tutoring would allow me to give something back to them. I also mentor three third grade classrooms in an underprivileged community near campus. One day a week I talk to the students about the dangers of drugs, and the value of education and hard work. I am able to do these things because I don't have to worry about paying for my education.”

-TS, Class of 2002
