Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS Celebrates 10th Anniversary
The Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS program is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this fall. The five-year academic honors program, which prepares students to be global business leaders, will mark this momentous occasion with a gala celebration on November 8, 2007. During the event, Lindner Honors-PLUS will celebrate the many successes of its students and alumni, and honor donors for their generous support of the program. The celebration will be held in the Tangeman University Center Great Hall on the University of Cincinnati’s Clifton campus. For more information about the anniversary celebration, contact the Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS office at (513) 556-7099.
Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS highlights:
LEADERSHIP: Throughout the program’s history, many Lindner Honors-PLUS students have shown outstanding leadership across the UC campus. The undergraduate student body president and/or vice president have been LHP students four out of the last five years. Since President Zimpher established the Presidential Leadership Medal of Excellence in 2002, a Lindner Honors-PLUS student has received at least one of the medals each year. Mr. Bearcat has also been an LHP student for the last five years – Dominic Berardi, Matt Mezinskis, Justin Shafer, Kyle Neumann and Jay Hummel.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE: In addition to the one-month trip students take between their third and fourth year in the program, Lindner Honors-PLUS students have co-oped internationally in locations such as London, Paris, Tokyo, Buenos Aires and Munich. Today, the program’s alumni are also working abroad in Moscow, Geneva, Beijing and Latvia.
RECRUITMENT: The program’s graduates are working for companies such as Procter & Gamble, Chiquita, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, GE and Great American Financial. Approximately 80% of Lindner Honors-PLUS alumni work in the Cincinnati market, while others are working in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Austin, Atlanta and Charlotte.
ALUMNI: The Lindner Honors-PLUS program is training leaders to make a difference in their community and the efforts of the program’s 150 alumni are being noticed. For example, in 2006 Jay Hummel was recognized as one of the Business Courier’s “Forty Under 40” at the age of 26.
