In its latest ranking, BusinessWeek has ranked UC’s College of Business among the best.

For many years, BusinessWeek magazine has ranked MBA programs. BusinessWeek's ranking also placed the University of Cincinnati 43rd among the public universities.

Economics Center for Education & Research Ranked No. 1 in the Nation
The National Council on Economic Education calls UC’s Economics Center for Education & Research “exemplary.”

The National Council on Economic Education is a nonprofit organization that hopes to promote literacy in economics for students and their teachers. CoB Presents From the Locker Room to the Boardroom Series to feature new UC Women’s Basketball Coach J. Kelley Hall

J. Kelley HallJ. Kelley Hall, the recently appointed head women’s basketball coach at UC, will be the featured speaker at the “From the Locker Room to the Boardroom” luncheon presented by the College of Business on Wednesday, May 30. During the presentation, Coach Hall will offer tips on player development.

Coach Hall comes to the Bearcats from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette where he transformed the Ragin’ Cajuns from a struggling program to a Sun Belt Conference power in just five seasons. He took over at UL in 2002-03, inheriting a program with a 300+ RPI rating and from 1990 to 2000, the Cajuns averaged four wins a season. Coach Hall built Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns into a top-60 RPI program in 2006-07 and led the squad to a 65-28 record in his final three seasons.

Coach Hall is the third UC coach to present in the series this academic year. Men’s basketball coach Mick Cronin was the inaugural speaker in November 2006 and football coach Brian Kelley presented in February. The UC College of Business “From the Locker Room to the Boardroom” series is based on the concept that there are many similarities between the sports and business worlds. The series portrays that the business community can take lessons from coaches who have been successful utilizing the same principles and strategies that are taught in the UC College of Business.

CoB Students Collaborate with DAAP and Engineering to Raise a Solar House
For many months now, UC students have been laying the groundwork of design, engineering and business planning in order to build a solar house. On Monday, April 16, the students put the lessons and planning into action when they began construction on UC’s solar house.

The house is part of a prestigious international competition in which only 20 universities worldwide were invited to compete to build the globe’s best solar home where everything – all mechanics, appliances and even the car that accompanies the house – is solar powered.

The house will be built in four sections atop the beds of four mobile home trailers located on the UC campus. When complete in October, the sections will be transported to Washington, D.C., connected to one another to form a cohesive whole and then displayed on the National Mall.

Students Spend Spring Break Serving Others
Eleven College of Business students headed to a tropical climate for spring break, but they weren’t soaking up the Florida sunshine. The students traveled to Guatemala for a 10-day service learning project with Habitat for Humanity International’s Global Village program.

The three credit hour class develops cross cultural awareness and offers opportunities for close interaction with the community. The group worked on three homes in the rural village of Los Tablones during the trip.

“Working side by side with the families, we were fully immersed in a culture that we had read about, but experiencing it first-hand is so much different,” said David Roth, a third year finance and international business major. “Traveling with your peers and working at three sites also allowed us to share our varying perspectives on the experience.”
